The Cairo Tower was built between 1956 and 1961 during the presidency of Gamal Abdel Nasser. At a height of 187 metres, it dominates the skyline of Zamalek island on the Nile. The tower’s latticework design resembles a lotus flower – a symbol of ancient Egypt. It is made of reinforced concrete and features a distinctive rotating restaurant at the top, though the observation deck is fixed with panoramic windows. The tower offers unobstructed 360‑degree views. From the top, you can see the historical districts of Cairo, the river islands, and the desert hills beyond. At sunset, the city transforms from a dusty beige into a shimmering sea of lights – a photographer’s dream. The tower also houses a cafeteria and a restaurant (the revolving restaurant is currently not always operational, but the observation deck is always open).

After descending from the tower, you’ll be driven to a carefully chosen restaurant nearby (or in Zamalek) serving authentic Egyptian and Middle Eastern cuisine.
