Based on ancient tradition and biblical accounts, this trail visits the sites where the Holy Family stayed, rested, and blessed the land of Egypt.

DAY 1
🇪🇬 Arrival in Cairo – Coptic Cairo: Hanging Church & Holy Crypt of Abu Serga
Arrival transfer Breakfast next day
Arrival at Cairo International Airport. Neptune Tours representative (holding a cross) assists with visa and baggage. Private transfer to your hotel. Afternoon: visit Coptic Cairo. Start at the Hanging Church (El Muallaqa), built above the Babylon Fortress. Then walk to the Church of St. Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Serga), where the Holy Family is believed to have lived in a crypt during their flight into Egypt. Veneration and prayer in the crypt (approx 3rd century AD). Return to hotel. Overnight Cairo.

DAY 2
🏜️ Wadi El Natrun – The Desert of the Monks (4 Ancient Monasteries)
Private vehicle (2hrs) Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast, drive to Wadi El Natrun, a desert valley famous for its early Christian monasticism (4th century). Visit four active monasteries: Deir al-Baramus (oldest, founded by St. Macarius), Deir Anba Bishoi (contains the body of St. Bishoi), Deir al-Suryani (frescoes and Syrian influence), and Deir Abu Makar (St. Macarius the Great). Meet monks, learn about Coptic ascetic traditions, and enjoy a traditional monastic lunch. Return to Cairo in the late afternoon. Overnight.

📿 The monasteries of Wadi El Natrun are among the oldest in the world, continuously inhabited since the 4th century. A living witness to early Christianity.
DAY 3
🌳 Matariya – Virgin Mary Tree & Mostorod Church (Holy Family Well)
Morning tour Breakfast
Morning visit to Matariya, a suburb of Cairo. See the Virgin Mary Tree (a sycamore said to have shaded the Holy Family). The tree is venerated as the site where Mary washed baby Jesus' clothes, and a spring of water appeared. Nearby is the Church of the Virgin Mary in Matariya. Then travel to Mostorod to visit the Church of the Holy Family (Mostorod Church), which marks another resting spot and a well where they drank. Time for prayer and reflection. Afternoon free. Overnight Cairo.

  • Visit the nearby Church of St. Mary in Zeitoun (optional, famed for apparitions)
🌿 The Matariya tree is a descendent of the original sycamore – pilgrims tie ribbons as prayers. A place of healing for centuries.
DAY 4
👣 Sakha – The Footprint of Jesus (Basus) & Church of the Holy Virgin
Private transfer (2.5 hrs each way) Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast, drive north to the town of Sakha (near Kafr El-Sheikh). Visit the Church of the Holy Virgin, which houses a granite rock bearing a footprint believed to be that of the child Jesus when the Holy Family passed through. According to tradition, Jesus stepped on the stone, leaving an imprint. Venerate the relic and explore the small museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. Drive back to Cairo in the late afternoon. Overnight.

DAY 5
✈️ Final Departure – Carry the Blessings Home
