After breakfast, drive to the Kalabsha Temple, dedicated to Mandulis (Nubian solar deity). It is the largest freestanding temple in Nubia, relocated to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Admire its Roman‑era reliefs and inscriptions. Nearby, visit the delicate Kiosk of Qertassi, a small Roman‑era sandstone structure with four columns and Hathor capitals. The site offers breathtaking views of Lake Nasser. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon free to explore Aswan’s souk. Overnight Aswan.

Morning: check out and transfer to the port to board your Lake Nasser cruise ship (4‑night voyage). Settle into your cabin as the ship sets sail south. Afternoon: visit Wadi El Sebua (Valley of the Lions), a temple built by Ramses II and later converted into a Christian church. Two avenues of sphinxes lead to the rock‑cut sanctuary. Learn about the Kushite influence on later additions. Sail towards Amada. Welcome cocktail and dinner on board. Overnight sailing.

Morning: visit the Temple of Amada, the oldest temple in Nubia (18th Dynasty, built by Thutmose III and Amenhotep II). Its colourful reliefs and inscriptions are exceptionally well preserved, including a text describing a military campaign. Then continue to the Temple of Derr, a rock‑cut temple of Ramses II, unique for its vivid wall paintings and Kushite influence (later kings added their cartouches). Return to the ship for lunch and sailing towards Kasr Ibrim. Evening: lecture on Lake Nasser’s UNESCO rescue campaign. Overnight on board.

Sail past Kasr Ibrim, an ancient fortress that was once a major city in Nubia. It is the only Nubian monument that was not relocated; it still stands on its original promontory, now an island after the lake’s flooding. View the remains from the boat deck (landing is not permitted). Your guide shares stories of its role as a Roman outpost, a Christian cathedral, and a Kushite stronghold. Continue sailing towards Abu Simbel. Afternoon leisure on board. Captain’s farewell dinner. Overnight near Abu Simbel.

Early morning disembarkation for a once‑in‑a‑lifetime visit to the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor (Nefertari) at Abu Simbel. These colossal rock‑cut temples were carved in the 13th century BC and relocated in the 1960s to save them from Lake Nasser. The Great Temple’s four colossal statues of Ramses II face the rising sun – twice a year, sunlight penetrates to the inner sanctuary. Learn about the Kushite reverence for Ramses II, who they considered a divine ancestor. Return to the ship for lunch, then sail back to Aswan. Overnight on board (or in Aswan hotel).

After breakfast (on board or at hotel), transfer to Abu Simbel Airport for a short flight to Cairo (via Aswan or direct, depending on schedule).
